Set on over the Atlantic, Cidadela Cascais is a unique example of fortified military architecture of the Renaissance in Cascais, defending the stretch of coast with access to Lisbon. It comprises the Fort of Our lady of Light and the Holy San Antonio Tower. In late 2011 it reopened as the Palace of Cidadela after some restoration and currently serves as a summer residence for the President of Portugal. There is a restaurant and ice cream parlour with a terrace plus several souvenir shops.
A few meters from Farol Hotel.
