Guincho Beach is impressive because of its raw beauty, a combination of a tumultuous sea and the high cliffs. It is popular for surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing. Strong northern winds are predominant during summer. During winter, the predominant winds are from the east, and swells increase in size. It is the setting for many prestigious championship nautical sports. The beach was famously featured in the pre-titles sequence of the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. It is located five kilometres from the township of Cascais. The region also has many fine restaurants specialising in fish and seafood.
